Effective Date: June 9, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Scute (the “App”), provided by Scute LLC (“Scute,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the App you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the App.
You must be at least 13 to use Scute. If you’re 13–17, a parent or guardian must consent and supervise your use. You may use Scute only in compliance with applicable laws.
Scute is a digital-wellbeing tool that blocks apps, websites, and the Android Settings app to help you cut back on distractions. We do not provide medical or mental-health advice and the App is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Use Scute only when it’s safe to shift your attention. Never use it while driving or operating machinery.
Website blocking runs on a local VPN that doesn’t route your traffic through any server of ours. Blocking sessions persist across reboots. If your device restarts during a session, blocking resumes automatically.
Scute includes an optional “Auto Block Porn” feature available with a paid membership. When you opt in, a curated list of adult-content websites is downloaded from our servers and stored on your device. The list contains no information about you, is used only on your device, and is updated periodically. The list aims to cover most adult-content sites but is not exhaustive.
Scute may request Device Administrator privileges to make uninstalling the app harder during an active blocking session. Depending on your device and Android version, this may show a warning before you can uninstall; in some cases the system will still allow uninstall. To remove Device Administrator yourself, go to Settings → Security → Device Admin Apps.
Creating an account is optional but required to sync your presets across devices. You can sign up with email and password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In. You’re responsible for keeping your password and your email account secure, and for any activity that happens under your account. We may modify, suspend, or terminate the App or your access to it to protect the Service or comply with law. You can delete your account anytime in Settings.
Don’t misuse Scute. In particular, don’t (a) interfere with or disrupt the Service, (b) access data or systems you’re not authorized to, (c) upload malware or run automated abuse against our servers, or (d) use Scute to break the law or infringe someone else’s rights.
Scute, including the software, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks, is owned by Scute LLC and our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use. Don’t copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or resell any part of the App except as permitted by law.
The App links to or interoperates with third-party products (for example app stores, analytics providers, and the underlying operating system). We are not responsible for those third parties or for their content, terms, or practices.
Scute offers a free trial plus paid plans:
All payments are processed by Google Play. By subscribing you also agree to Google Play’s terms. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in Google Play. Refunds follow Google Play’s refund policy.
A few things to know about how blocking sessions work:
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, or that blocking will succeed in every edge case.
If something is going wrong, like long blocks from bugs, unexpected behavior, or accidental activation, email support@scuteapp.com and we’ll help.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCUTE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL). OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) USD $100 OR (B) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID SCUTE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limits; where they don’t, we apply the maximum limits permitted by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold Scute harmless from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the App or your violation of these Terms.
By creating an account you agree to receive transactional emails (verification, sign-in codes, security and service updates) and marketing emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime via the link in each one. If you enable Alert Notifications on a preset, you also agree to receive automated alert emails to the address you provide for that preset; turn the toggle off to stop them.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the new version in the app and update the Effective Date. If the changes are material we’ll do our best to flag them. Continuing to use Scute after changes become effective means you accept them.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Scute LLC is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be brought in the courts of that state.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed to the minimum extent needed, and the rest will stay in effect.
